ASRT team closes its season in the Baltics and starts preparing for rallies in Spain

Last weekend, the ASRT rally team participated in the closing round of the Estonian Rally Championship, in the Saaremaa Rally on Saaremaa Island. There were Dmitry Feofanov and Latvian navigator Andris Mālnieks who started that round. The crew won the 32nd place in the final standing and the 10th in EMV2 class.

"Preparing for this rally was a bit stressful as Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, which participated in ERC Cyprus Rally, came back just few days before the start of the Saaremaa Rally. As a result, we decided to take another Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, which, thanks to the excellent work of our mechanics, was prepared in a short period of time and was ready to start in the Saaremaa Rally," says ASRT team leader Artūrs Igaveņš, noting that the rally itself went well as there were no technical or other problems.
As well, the pilot admits that the rally went good. "The rally was great. We drove for pleasure and we got it," says Dmitry Feofanov. "The first day went harder as I had to get used to another car, a new navigator. Moreover, it was dark and rainy. On the second day everything was fine – known high speed sections, great weather and the car drove well. Overall, I am satisfied with my speed. There was no significant contention, so we drove to have fun. But in quick and familiar sections we tried to drive safer and faster, which we did. As to navigator Andris, I felt comfortable and heard him great. He is a pleasant person being able to create the right mood."
Asked about overall impressions of this season, the pilot valued it positively. "The season was quite eventful and interesting considering the European stages with a totally different level. Now I have an incentive to train and get better physical fit. It is a little unfortunate about crashes in the Liepaja Rally. Alas, such things cannot be avoided. There is still room for improvement. But overall, I'm satisfied with the season." While Feofanov took part in the Saaremaa Rally, in the meantime, Petr Turkin in the Crimea conducted a three-day test on the asphalt pavement to better prepare for the next start. Although the rally in the Baltics is over, the ASRT team continues the rally season. In November, a team with several crews goes to Spain to start in a number of competitions. The information whereof is to follow.
