Third place in the debut

ASRT pilot Feofanov after the difficult Cyprus stage of the European Rally Championship closes his season on Saaremaa. At the European Rally Championship, ASRT team pilot Dmitry Feofanov made his debut with navigator Normunds Kokins. In eventful and heavy rally, the Russian racer managed to win third place in the ERC2 class.

According to the head of the ASRT team, Artūrs Igaveņš, despite the fact that the rally was very difficult, Feofanov’s crew managed to reach the finish line and take third place in their class. Artūrs also praised the work of the team, as the rally passed without technical problems, although the conditions were extremely difficult. "Unfortunately, we must admit that in the Cyprus Rally we did not have the desired speed. First of all, it was unclear how to drive fast on such roads without unnecessary risk. Secondly, the main task was to reach the finish line and gain experience, so this time we did not take risk and acted with caution. It would be too expensive not to reach the finish line, so we were extremely careful. At such stages, it is not speed that matters, but strategy, so this time we took it slow. And the finish line awarded us the European Cup, now on my shelf," says Dmitry Feofanov.
"On such difficult roads, we tried to save the car, but still had to replace a couple of parts, fortunately, not affecting the result. Considering that the Mitsubishi Evo had a rough time on such roads, we are glad how the car drove this rally. Once again we were convinced that such races should be conducted in cold blood and without haste. 200 kilometers in two days is a lot." The pilot noted that each stage of the ERC is a real challenge for him. "Each European stage is a difficult test for us, but the Cyprus Rally, in this respect, is a leader – complex highspeed sections, intense heat. You must be physically fit to drive and withstand. Honestly, I don’t like such rallies, since there is practically no speed, and the roads are designed to break cars." However, the season for Feofanov is not over, as the start on Saaremaa with Andris Mālnieks awaits the racer. "We decided to take part in the Saaremaa Rally as well, where we will be able to accumulate additional rally mileage. In addition, we will have the opportunity to close 2019 in good company and on my favorite rally, the legendary one."
