ASRT team wins first place at Estonian rally

Last holidays Harju rally took place in Estonia. ASRT team driver Siim Plangi became the winner, thus continuing to demonstrate his excellent performance. Over the last seven rallies he achieved seven victories in N4 class. Young and talented Carl Martin Volver won Seventh place absolutely and 1st place in EMV4 class, this was his first rally behind the steering wheel of Ford Fiesta R2. Meanwhile, Dmitry Feofanov finished fifth in EMV2 class.

"As a team we were very successful in this rally since we managed to produce very good results. Plangi and Volver won their class but Feofanovs finished fifth in his class, it is a very good achievement. Teams also won first place. Unfortunately, the rally ended on a negative note, so the feeling of joy and champagne sprinkling was skipped. It's a pity, but sometimes rally tends to be like that," ASRT team leader Marcis Ķenavs remembers last rally.

"We are very pleased for Volver, who, while driving a new car for the first time, was able to show such a good result compared to other drivers who had more experience with this type of cars. At this stage Plangi fought hard with Roland Muraki. Despite the small technical problems, which we prevented before the crucial stage, Plangi was morally prepared to fight for tenths of seconds and victory. With his stable performance he proved that at the moment he is the fastest Group N driver in the Baltics."

"In addition to the team in Harju rally was also Volver’s wheelsman Margus, who got injured at rally Talsi. He admitted that as soon as possible we wants to sit back in the car and continue to drive the rally, as it was difficult to stand aside. But at the moment this is not possible, because his hand was still in plaster."

Ķenavs revealed that Volver’s Peugeot repair is currently in the process and it will be like new for Estonian ERC stage. Before the upcoming rally team planned several tests. Also Marcis revealed that in Estonia ERC stage Volver will go in ERC Junior test, where there will be a great opportunity to compare his times with other best European juniors.

Happy about his result was Feofanov. "I am satisfied because, compared to last year (27th absolute), I've progressed, this time I finished in 19th position absolutely and fifth in my class. We will continue to drive and go ahead. Thank ASRT team for the new machine and support," after the rally told Dmitry Feofanov.

Although Volver suffered a serious accident two weeks ago in Talsi, in Harju rally he demonstrated that he can be fast even after such a failure. "We started the rally very well. I was driving this rally for the first time, but the stages were nice and I liked it. Unfortunately, the rally ended on the note of sadness because of the tragic accident," says Carl Martin Volver. "From the beginning it was difficult to drive with Fiesta R2, but with every kilometer you drive you get accustomed with this car and I went better. In particular, the last special stage felt very good ( At the 20 kilometers long stage Volver was the fourth fastest in absolute test!). If I compare the Peugeot and Fiesta, then it is difficult, as each requires different driving style. At the end I am already accustomed to the Ford, however, the driving is different because it requires a different technique. Also, we have very good cooperation with our new driver, because he is an experienced and with the right approach. Overall i am not completely satisfied with my speed, because I know that I can drive faster. But before the rally my task was to reach the finish and be calm. However, this was a good experience, as the speed was not as important. I hope that the team is satisfied with my performance."

In conclusion, I want to say a big thank you to ASRT team that they found my car for this rally and gave me the opportunity to drive in the Harju rally. Thank you, guys. You're the best team!"
